Salomon Sense Ride 2 Review

Updated: Apr 28, 2019

I have been running in Salomon Sense Ride for a couple of years now and they are amongst my favourite trail shoes. They were my shoe of choice for my first ultra; I have run trail marathons in them and they are a perfect go-to for everyday training runs. I take them on holiday with me rather than lots of different pairs as my feet are happy running around the streets as they are running up mountains in them.

When I found out that Salomon had updated them I was excited to try them. I’ve been running in the Sense Ride 2 for a few weeks on local trails and I’m happy to say I’m still in love with the updated version.

Let’s start with looks, the Sense Ride 2 is a great looking shoe, available in a range of colours, deciding which one to go for might be a challenge. These shoes look good off the trails too, I happily wear them with my jeans.

Check them out on the Salomon website

The Sense Ride 2 hasn’t lost the comfort I loved in the original Sense Ride; in fact, Salomon have moved the SenseFit bands back from the forefoot and the upper is softer

so now the toe area feels roomier and is also breathable. The Quicklace system not only helps give the shoe a great fit from the start to the end of your run; but because the lace is pulled with a toggle and stored in a pocket in the tongue, you don’t have to tie muddy laces with cold hands mid-run. This and the general fit helps shoe feel like it holds onto my foot comfortably. The 8mm drop and great cushioning make me feel like I can run on the trails all day. Salomon’s Vibe technology along with the EnergyCell in the midsole means less stress on the body and a spring in your step. The addition of the removable Othorlite insoles inside the shoe adds to this shock absorption.

One of the most important factors I look for in a trail shoe is the grip. Salomon’s Contragrip rubber provides a grip I trust. From loose uneven ground to wet rock the deep sharp lugs and the flexibility of the sole help me grip and feel confident as I run.

My original Sense Ride have been with me on some amazing adventures, I can’t wait to see where my Sense Ride 2 will take me.

As a Salomon Ambassador, I was given these shoes by my sponsor as part of my kit. However, I only recommend products I truly love.
